The tears were streaming down my face.
I hadn’t signed up for this, but here I was.
Crying. Afraid. Feeling raw and all too vulnerable.
I had booked this coaching session hoping to talk about how to polish my business. Things were good and I wanted to grow them into greatness.
I was thinking, like, a marketing plan or something.
But my coaching session with Kimberly Spencer went straight to my heart and busted me wide open instead.
“Why aren’t you selling more?” she asked me. “You like your products. Your clients have amazing results. Why aren’t you making more offers?"
Cue ALL THE FEAR.
Because deep down was the dread that the more people I reach, the more chances there are that people could find out I’m a fraud.
That I’m not good enough.
That I’m unworthy. Unlovable. A fake and a phony about not just Author Your Life but about being a good person and a worthwhile human in general.
Worst of all, I thought I’d freaking dealt with this already.
Like, here I was thinking I’d made so much progress in this area. But now there was a fresh layer of it coming up as I stretched myself into new areas.
(Spoiler alert: This stuff is ongoing for everyone. We are never going to feel 100 percent perfect, and anyone who tells you they don’t struggle with some aspect of all this is a liar liar pants on fire.)
ANYWAY.
Back to Kimberly, who took my snot and tears in stride and gently encouraged me to look at the evidence.
“What do your clients say about you?” she asked.
Together, we examined some of my testimonials. We read words from women who have worked with me who now feel more themselves, who are creating and living the stories they WANT, not the stories that the people around them say they should want. It’s real stuff. I can’t make it up.
“Do you show up for your clients?” Kimberly asked me.
With her help, I reflected on how I meditate before each session, I pray, and sometimes I even fast if I think it will help pull in the right energy. I show up fully. Every time.
“You do the work,” she said. “You are enough. So make the offers.”
Kimberly’s coaching session went WAY beyond business. This went straight to my heart—straight to the locked-down limits on my thinking. She broke me free from a prison I didn’t even know I’d placed myself in.
Kimberly helped me see how I could be freer, how I could show up as myself and offer my gifts to the world with new levels of sparkling confidence I hadn’t felt previously.
For me, this was nothing short of TRANSFORMATIONAL.
I was so moved and impressed by her that I asked if she’d share a tiny bit of her wisdom with the Author Your Life community and … would you believe, she said yes!
