HOW TO DEEPEN YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR VISION
Every next level requires a deepening, a recommitment, a remembrance of the vision you are creating.
When Spike and I first made the decision to stay in Australia, we made the commitment not knowing when we would return.
He thought a few weeks
I thought a few months.
And here we are over one year later.
I joke we packed for three weeks and are now staying for three years.
Back in January, a deepening to the commitment to live here happened again.
It wasn’t just my dad’s death. That was also the time our visa was about to expire.
WE HAD A DECISION TO MAKE - A DEEPENING. A RECOMMITMENT.

Do we go back to family, friends, and the familiar, in the face of tragedy?

Or do we continue to lean into the vision we set forth eight years ago - traveling the world, raising our kids in different countries, experiencing new cultures, and enjoying the freedom in this pandemic-free paradise?
We also had to look at the life that we were currently providing to our kids, and the freedom we have here.
WE HAD TO LOOK AT OUR SUPPORT STRUCTURES AND SEE - OKAY, WHAT DO WE HAVE TO BUILD THAT WE DON’T HAVE FROM HOME.
We had to look at the consequences of choosing to stay.
...Like not being able to go home for another 2 years due to the type of visa we’re on (they don’t recommend traveling outside the country because you may not get back in unless you’re a Hemsworth brother.)
...Like not being able to have our family come here due to border lockdowns.
...Like not being able to have my mom here as we grieve together 8,000 apart.
It all felt scary.
AND, STILL, THE COMMITMENT, THE VISION, THE GOAL FELT RIGHT.
Even though it’s scary if still feels right.
Even when it feels lonely, it still feels right.
Even when I feel like the random, weird, American ex-pat in a world of Aussies, in a different culture, it still feels right.
Every time I check in with my gut I know we are right where we are supposed to be.
FOR THAT IS WHAT LIVING IN ALIGNMENT AND WITH VISION MEANS.
Whether it’s the vision you have for your business or the vision you have for your family, or the vision you have for your marriage, when you have a clear vision, making the hard decisions gets a lot easier.
That doesn’t mean your choices magically become easy.
But, the courage to make that choice, and the clarity to make the choice that is right for you make making the decision easier.
Obviously, we chose to stay.
We chose to continue to lean into the vision.
We chose to continue to consciously create this life we are building here in Australia and do the things we always dreamed of doing.
I mean, hello, now my husband has a reason to go to chef school! And he looooooves it!
THESE THINGS, THESE DREAMS WE HAVE HAD ALL GET TO KEEP COMING TRUE BECAUSE WE KEEP REALIGNING, RECOMMITTING, AND COURAGEOUSLY MOVING FORWARD TOWARD THE VISION WE ARE CREATING.
That is faith in motion.
That is courage in action.
It takes both courage and faith to lean into the unknown and create something from nothing.
That’s how you build a business.
That’s how you build soul-enhancing relationships.
That’s how you build an extraordinary life.
You are either consciously creating your vision, or you are re-creating your past.
For me, the choice is a no-brainer.
I’ve lived the past.
I’ve learned from the past.
I HAVE NO NEED TO REPEAT THE PAST.
I don’t need to repeat cycle after cycle of self-doubt and fear until I ultimately learn the lesson to live with vision, courage, and faith.
(It’s so much easier to just do that instead in the first place, right? Why waste the time?)
That’s why I choose VISION every day and twice on Sundays.
And right here, right now, THIS is the vision.
