Ever felt out of step? Off the beat?
There is a feeling when you are living in the flow of faith and possibility...and when you’re not.
When you’re stuck in frustration and overwhelm it feels like you’re the Universe's dance partner with two left feet, tripping over yourself, fumbling, tumbling, and stumbling trying to hold it together with some modicum of grace.
Trying to find your groove can just feel so trying, right?
So stop trying.
SERIOUSLY, THAT’S A MAJOR PART OF THE PROBLEM IS YOU TRYING TO HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER WHEN YOU’RE CLEARLY IN NEED OF A RESET.
It’s in those moments of funky-off-beat rhythm that you STOP.
STOP the music.
Press pause.
Recalibrate.
Reset.
Take a breather.
Take five.
I remember back in ye olden days when I was dancing, there was one part in this Spanish dance that I just wasn’t getting. I kept trying to get it perfect in practice. My Russian teacher kept yelling at me.
“Kimberly!” he’d shout in his thick Russian accent, “It’s da-dah-da-de-dah-de dah dah?”
I felt mortified. Called out. Exposed for not being perfect, off the beat, out of step, and totally out of alignment.
“Why did this feel so hard?” I thought to myself.
Then the comparisons and “If-only's” started.
Not to anyone else.
Comparing myself to older versions of myself - (the worst kind of comparisons BTW in my opinion.)
“If only I hadn’t taken that 5-year hiatus from dance, THEN I would be able to get this…”
“If only I was thinner...smarter...more talented…”
And, of course with all the “if only's” comes the high achiever beliefs of…
“Maybe if I just work harder…”
“Maybe if I just practice more…”
HERE’S THE THING, ME MISSING THAT STEP HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY TALENTS, OR MY SMARTS, OR WHAT SIZE MY BODY WAS, OR HOW MUCH I PRACTICED OR HOW HARD I WORKED.
It had to do with the guilt, shame, frustration, anger, and EXPECTATIONS I had attached to that step.
I made that step mean something more than what it was...a few steps.
And instead of surrendering to the flow and the love of dance and movement, I was stuck in my head.
You ask any athlete…
Any dancer…
Any musician…
Any artist…
When you’re in your head, you're dead.
Thinking through your art is NOT art. Such is true with art and with life. With being in the flow of it.
Being in and of your thoughts pulls you out of the creative, sexual transmutation of energy and flow that is ALREADY INSIDE OF YOU!
Take a breath, and feel the movement.
Surrender your expectations for the feeling of what you want it to be.
How often in your life or your business are you holding yourself to expectations of how you think you should be or should look in your business, rather than surrendering to what is?
Surrender is NOT giving up.
It’s relinquishing your ego.
It’s letting go of your expectations and allowing what is to be what is, for that is all there is.
And surprisingly, when you do surrender to the flow...
When you throw your arms up in the air, fed up with the frustration and energy of trying…
That’s when you experience freedom.
And usually, quite quickly, you call back into step and into the rhythm.
It was about the co-creation of what you are BECOMING THROUGH the dance.
And the beauty that comes from growth.
Remember, your reign is now.
P.S. There is power in surrender. Power in faith. Power in claiming that which is already yours. I’ll show you exactly how to do that inside of my How to Claim Your Power Masterclass.
