When I first started on this motherhood journey thing, I thought I knew everything. I read all the books. I got all the advice. I did all the things to prepare (and to ignore that sinking gut instinct feeling like I was about to go on the largest rollercoaster of my life). And what a ride it has been so far.
Choosing to scale my business when I was pregnant was one thing. Actually doing it after giving birth...well, that was a whole new ball game. Fortunately, I was in a business coaching group, surrounded by like-minded women who were cheering me on. That was my inspiration to create The Queens Way. Fast forward, 18 months later, and my choice to have twins - a business and a baby - took us to Australia as a family for a month and gave me more time to spend with my child as I made even more money.
What also helped, was getting guidance early...before I was in the “Holy shit what have I done?” phase.
So I did what any new mompreneur would do, I got even more support and I asked an expert.
I had some amazing friends who were making this mompreneur thing look easy...and fun. Like Luci Lampe. Four kids. Four books. Plus an adoring husband, a thriving and a whole frickin’ movement that she’s behind, I had to ask 7 weeks after giving birth…
Sometimes, as a mompreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in our business vision, at the cost of our vision for ourselves and for our relationships. After all before we were moms, before we were spouses, before we even owned a business, we were a woman first.
Since becoming a sexy mama, I’ve had the privilege of being able to speak at her Sexy Mama events down in San Diego, CA that combine sexy dancing, actionable inspiration, delicious (and healthy) food, and, most importantly, wine. (wink, wink)
