If you’ve ever been called “too much.”
A lot of times when people call us names or say things like you’re “too much” or “too bold” or are selfish for wanting more, or you’re stupid for being into whatever it is that lights you up...I want you to know this from the bottom of my heart...
IT’S NOT YOU. IT’S THEM.
While I’m not one for passing the buck or shifting the blame onto others, perception is projection. It’s mirror neurons, baby!
And sometimes when you are shining so bright, there are other crabs in the bucket who have gotten used to being dull and cruddy that your radiance scares them and they want to pull you down because of that.
So just know...
You are not intimidating.
THEY ARE INTIMIDATED.
You are not “too much.”
They’re just used to playing small.
You are not a bitch.
They are not used to honesty, candor, and assertive communication.
You are not selfish.
They’re just used to not wanting or asking more for themselves.
YOU ARE NOT UNWORTHY.
They just haven’t claimed their worthiness.
You are not stupid.
They’re just stuck in what they think they know, which prevents them from growing.
You are not bragging.
They are just not used to celebrating their success.
You are not showing off.
They are just not used to owning their accomplishments.
You are not dumb.
They are just not used to exploring with compassionate curiosity and being open to innovation.
YOUR DREAMS ARE NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
They are just used to not seeing possibilities.
SOMETIMES OUR LIGHT CAN SHINE BRIGHT INTO THE FEARFUL CRACKS OF OTHERS DEEPEST DESIRES THAT ARE CLOUDED AND CRUSADES UP WITH SHAME.
Give them some grace. Keep standing in your power and shining your light…
They’ll catch up.
