Remove YOU from Your Sales Process

Uncategorized May 20, 2020

You know when you find that movie or that show. You know…that one. The one that you just can’t stop thinking about it. When you’re chatting with your fellow socially distanced mates, the Netflix recommendation just pours out of your mouth amidst thirty “OMG, OMG, you have to watch this!” And, “It’s soo good,” which is appropriately said on repeat because the show just leaves you in awe, inspired, on the edge of your seat, excited for the next one, eager to enjoy it.

Now think about how you promote your products and services. When you talk about it, do you talk about it with the same level of excitement and joy? Does it have the same amount of “OMG’S” and “It’s soooo good!” You have to watch this, do that, buy now, or any other CTA.

Both are buying conversations. Persuasion is persuasion.

Here’s the thing…

IF YOU ARE NOT THE BIGGEST FAN OF YOUR BUSINESS, OF YOUR PRODUCTS, AND YOUR SERVICES, AND OF WHAT YOU DO, THEN HOW DO YOU EXPECT OTHERS TO BE AS WELL?

Having worked with successful business leaders for over three and a half years, I’ve noticed the ones who talk about their business with pride and excitement, the ones who eagerly, courageously, boldly ask for the sale, the ones who created the business tend to be the BEST salesperson for the business.

Why? Because they freaking looooooooove it.

They are obsessed with delivering quality products and services. The love the transformations their work is able to provide. And they have the confidence to know that they are damn good at what they do.

And it doesn’t matter whether, at their core, they have crappy beliefs of unworthiness, enoughness, or beliefs around what they deserve. That’s usually when they come to me - when they’ve built something and they know they’re standing in their own way with it growing beyond because of those funky beliefs.

What’s made them successful is that they fell in love with the processes that they provide their customers.

Now, if you say, “But, Kim, my business isn’t making any money.”

I can pretty much guarantee that if you sell it like it isn’t making any money, or that you don’t believe in your ability to turn it into a viable money-making machine, and you sell it with downcast eyes, apologizing for bothering people with your sale, feeling wildly uncomfortable in a sales conversation, yarn it will continue to not.

Odds are you’ve mixed up your own self-worth with what you’re selling.

When I first discovered Pilates back in 2007, within 1 month I knew I had to teach it. I had never found any form of exercise that made me feel sexy or good or strong or that had given me soooo many amazing results. Within 6-months I was certified and working in my studio

Sell-The-Process.jpg

It had nothing to do with my self-worth. Back then I was bulimic, choosing very bad relationships with men, desperate to be loved by all, had massive daddy-issues, was processing nearly two decades of repressed emotions. Emotionally and mentally I was a hot mess working through all that stuff.

But, man-o-woman could I sell Pilates!

Within a year I was the highest paid, most fully booked, youngest instructor in the studio. Within three and a half years, I had created my own private Pilates studio.

Because I could sell the PROCESS of Pilates like nobody’s business. And I believed wholeheartedly that I could deliver powerful transformation and massive results. And I did!

I knew how to sell the vehicle (the process) that would get people to their desire destination.

The same is true for now with coaching.

Coaching has transformed my life and I can sell the vehicle like a mofo. I absolutely love having the sales conversations at the end of my 90-minute consults, because I’m walking my clients through the exact processes that have transformed my life and my business into the freaking life and business of my dreams….

That feels 100% aligned and authentic AF.

That gives me the income and the impact to continuously, daily transform lives.

That allows me to create prolifically.

That frees me to travel the world.

And to do it all when I want, with who I want.

So that I can play with my son and take long walks on the beach with my family.

Because I designed my business and my life to support that. That’s freedom, baby!

Where I see a lot of beginning coaches get tripped up, is that, as many actors and models do, they think that they’re selling themselves.

You’re not.

It’s not about you.

PEOPLE AREN’T BUYING YOU. THEY’RE BUYING YOUR PROCESS.

Whether it’s your process for having blemish-free skin…

Or it’s your process for creating more freedom and joy…

Or it’s your process of building a business…

Or it’s your process to live back-pain free…

Or it’s your process of challenging people with their hobbies…

Or it’s your process of transporting and transforming people with your shows or the content you create…

SELL THE PROCESS. NOT YOURSELF.

And sell your process with as much enthusiasm and joy as you talk about that Netflix show…yeah, that one.

Remember, your reign is now.

P.S. Want to know how to sell $2K, $5K, $10K, $15K coaching packages like me? And, want to know how to do it with sooooo much joy, love, and excitement for the process? (Because why do it and feel miserable, right?)
