The Lion Inside

Uncategorized Apr 15, 2020

One of my favorite things about being a mom - okay, #letsbehonest, there are LOTS of favorite things - but one of them is children’s books. Being a obsessed with the mind and knowing what I know about subconscious programming, I keep a watchful eye on what lessons, learnings, books, and knowledge Declan is consuming right now.

After we decided to hunker down in Australia for the next few months, I knew that we needed more books than What do You Do with an Idea and the rainbow book. Both great books...but this mama needed some variety.

We were in Big W, and I saw this one book - The Lion Inside. It’s about how a little mouse who is ignored and feels small and forgotten, admires this Lion...and his ROAR. The mouse decides that if he had a ROAR like a lion, he could have a voice. So even though he was scared, even though he acknowledges that this might mean he becomes Lion’s dinner, he musters up the courage and he seeks out the Lion to teach him his roar.

One of my favorite lines in the book is...

“IF YOU WANT THINGS TO CHANGE, YOU FIRST HAVE TO CHANGE YOU.”

Right now, it feels like there is a lot of roaring going around.

Roars of fear.

Roars of blame.

Roars of trying to prove how big and brave and positive you are.

Here’s the thing about the ROARING when it comes from a place of insecurity - it manifests from the ego, from a place of trying to “prove” how badass you are instead of just owning the fact that you are indeed badass.

There is BIG difference, as the mouse learns, between ROARING from a place of insecurity and ROARING from your soul speaking its authentic truth.

I frequently tell my clients…

“I’m not going to tell you what you should do. I’m going to help you strip away the programming that has said that you should be anything but who and what you are.”

IT IS A BOLD MOVE TO BE 100% COURAGEOUSLY AUTHENTIC.

Our two-million-year-old survivalist brain SCREAMS when we’re breaking free from the pack, from the mentality of the herd...because that’s how we used to survive as a species. We’d ban together in a little tribe and war against those who were different from us.

There are a lot of humans still who operate this way - banning together in a tribe and warring against those who think differently or who feel differently or who look differently. We slap labels on them of “this is the RIGHT way you SHOULD feel/be/think/do.”

Judgey. Judgey. Judgey.

FOR UNDERLYING ALL THAT SHOULD-ING IS MASSIVE INSECURITY OF BEING.

Right now there is a lot of roaring about how we “SHOULD” feel fear right now. We hear words like “pandemic” and “thousands of deaths” plastered across our news channels and Facebook feeds, telling us how we “SHOULD” feel about what is happening in the world.

And frankly...I don’t.

Is it because I’m quarantined in a beautiful ocean-view apartment a block away from the beach in a totally different country with a cozy 100% virtual business?

That certainly helps. But that’s the RESULT, not the cause.

The cause is QUESTIONING the CONDITIONING.

WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO FEEL FEAR RIGHT NOW? (AND, BTW, WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO THEM?)

Why can’t you feel joy, love, and a deeper connection to your family right now? Who says you can’t be excited about the transformation going on both in your life and in the lives of everyone around the world?

Why can’t you feel gratitude for this time with your family? For this time of innovation for your business? For this time of worldwide service to others?

CHOOSE the programming you buy into.

CHOOSE the labels that you allow to define yourself.

CHOOSE how you WANT to feel on a daily basis.

...NOT WHAT SOCIETY, OR THE NEWS, OR THE WORLD SAYS YOU “SHOULD” FEEL ABOUT WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE WORLD.

Do I have moments of anxiety or fear? Of course! I’m freaking human too.

But, I have habits that I practice that keep me grounded. I question the fear I don’t blindly ascribe to it defining my day, and especially not myself.

In choosing gratitude, joy, happiness, love, and really feeling those feelings...you actually BOOST YOUR IMMUNITY TOO!

As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, "Changing your fear to gratitude, appreciation, and kindness for just 10 minutes a day, three times a day, can strengthen your immune system by 50%,"

So the real question is…

WHO IS TEACHING YOU TO ROAR?

For as the mouse learns, his real roar came from his courage to show up nose-to-nose with the lion and speak his truth.

Courage champions fear.

AUTHENTICITY CHAMPIONS INSECURITY.

And, like the mouse and the lion discovered, that when you OWN who you really are, your courage and your voice, you actually attract a greater tribe.

REMEMBER, YOUR REIGN IS NOW.
